PLEASINGTON Golf Club’s professional for 23 years, Ted McNeill, passed away last week.
McNeill, who was born in 1919, grew up in Portrush, Northern Ireland, and led the Open after 18 holes at his home course in 1951.
He was Pleasington’s professional and head greenkeeper between 1949 and 1972, becoming a firm friend of the late Blackburn Rovers owner Jack Walker.
A service in his memory will be held at Immanuel Church in Pleasington in two weeks’ time.
