GARRY Flitcroft and Matt Jansen have confirmed they will play in the Chorley FC annual golf day at Shaw Hill on August 8.

The Magpies boss and his head coach competed in the fund-raising event last year and did not hesitate when they were invited to take part again.

“We both thoroughly enjoyed a memorable day on a super golf course. It raised a lot of money for the club’s funds and we’re sure it will again,” said Flitcroft.

His commitments to the club and his own business restrict the amount of times he can play so he will be making the most of this opportunity.

Former Blackburn Rovers team-mate Jansen is the more experienced of the two.

He played off a single figure handicap when he was a member of Pleasington Golf Club during his Ewood Park days and recently joined Wilmslow so doubtlessly will be getting in some practice in the weeks leading up the Shaw Hill date.

Meanwhile, fans can join Garry and Matt because there are a few places still available but people are advised to book your place as soon as possible because entries close once the maximum number of 24 teams has been reached.

There will be a packed prize table and the chance to win a Nissan Juke car, kindly offered by the Chorley Group, for the first player to hole in one on the 12th.

Chorley FC have kept the price of a team at the same level as last year - £350 which covers green fees, bacon sandwiches and tea or coffee on arrival, and an evening meal.

Entry can be made online at chorleyfc.com/golfday or by calling Chorley director Jeremy Lee on 07774 197303.

Extra guest for the evening meal, at 6pm, are welcome at a charge of £25 a head.

All the proceeds will go to club funds.
