EMILY Taylor can take plenty of encouragement from her debut professional tournament after returning a level par 72 in the second round of the Volvik RACV Ladies Masters in Australia.

The Chorley star had enjoyed a tough opening round posting a six over par in tricky conditions having been unable to have the luxury of a practice round.

But the 18-yer-old picked herself up for the second round and ended he tournament in a tie for 91st, four shots away from the cut mark And she admitted she was pleased with her efforts.

“I played well,” she said. “I left a few out there and a couple of puts lipped out. It’s just a shame the first round wasn’t the practice round!

“I’m looking forward to next week in New Zealand when I have two practice rounds so should be a lot better.”

Her second round began well with two birdies in the opening nine holes sending her out in 34 and igniting hope of making the cut.

But she bogeyed 10 and double bogeyed 13 for the second consecutive day to drop back to a seven over total.

A final hole birdie ensured Taylor finished on a high and ended with a level par round.
