ROSSENDALE United take on Harrogate Railway at Dark Lane this evening with boss Derek Egan saying: “Our season hopefully starts tonight.”
The Stags were on the wrong end of a 5-0 beating at Newcastle Blue Star in their curtain-raiser on Saturday.
But Egan believes the star-studded Tynesiders are capable of winning the league and is not reading too much into the scoreline.
He said: “It was important on the day but we have to keep it in perspective and that result might not have much of a bearing on us by the end of the season.
“But we have to defend better because like us Harrogate will want to get their season up and running and it will be nip and tuck.”
Rossendale will be without John Turner, while midfielder Paul Derrick is an injury doubt for the visit of a Harrogate side which lost their opening game 3-2 at home to Lancaster City.
