Rovers have signed promising midfielder Tom White.

The 22-year-old, who played for the same junior team as Ewood Park forward Adam Armstrong, has joined from Gateshead on a two-year deal.

White is initially expected to link up with the Under-23s.

A former Carlisle youngster, he joined Gateshead at 18 and after a serious knee injury threatened to derail his career, White made a major breakthrough last season.

He made more than 40 appearances for The Heed as they battled major financial problems off the field and was selected for England C, the Three Lions’ non-league team, playing against Wales and Estonia.
