Tony Mowbray revealed Rovers are ‘well underway’ with contract talks as they look to reward their star names with new deals after promotion.

Danny Graham and Craig Conway have been offered fresh terms by the club with their current deals set to expire this summer.

The likes of Bradley Dack and Richie Smallwood are among those who could be rewarded with new contracts after helping the club to promotion.

Mowbray returns from India today having travelled to meet the club’s owners and will step-up his recruitment plans as he prepares for life back in the Championship.

The Rovers boss met with the Rao family to finalise plans ahead of the 2018/19 season and is optimistic about their chances in the second tier.

Mowbray said: “We’re well underway with contract talks with several of our existing players, the out of contract ones as well as some of the under contract ones who we feel can move us forward and players that we would continue along the line with.”

Graham is out of contract at Ewood Park but is keen to stay. His 17 goals last season helped fire Rovers back to the Championship and he has spoken of his desire to remain in East Lancashire and help the club progress.

Conway saw his opportunities limited in 2017/18, largely because of injury, but is a senior figure at the club and Mowbray believes his experience could prove key.

The 33-year-old has been offered the chance to stay with Rovers having joined from Cardiff City four-and-a-half years ago.

League One player of the year Dack could also be in line for a new contract, despite only joining from Gillingham last season.

He still has three years to run on his current deal but Rovers see the 24-year-old as an integral part of their plans moving forward.

Rovers have tied down David Raya, Ryan Nyambe, Scott Wharton, Elliott Bennett and Joe Nuttall to new deals within the last 12 months and have more than 20 players already signed up for next season.

The first-team squad will also be supplemented by a number of youngsters from Rovers’ Premier League 2 Division Two title-winning team.

Mowbray added: “There are some Under-23s who I feel can push really hard to become a first-team player this year, but I feel that to compete in the top half of the Championship and to give us a realistic chance then I think we need to bring in some players that can help us compete at that level.”
