Tony Mowbray believes Bradley Dack has all the tools to succeed in the Championship after winning promotion with Rovers.

Dack was named as League One player of the year for the second time in three seasons after a stunning debut year at Ewood.

He netted 18 goals and was also named in the EFL team of the year having joined from Gillingham last summer for an initial £750,000.

Dack won the League One award with the Gills in 2015/16 but he is yet to play in the second tier.

That will change next year when Dack takes to the field with Rovers in the Championship and Mowbray said: “The challenge for him is to get his boots on in the Championship and see if he can replicate his form in League One.

“It’s a big challenge for him and for us next year but one that we’re all looking forward to.

“It’s a challenge for Bradley so I’m sure that he will be focussed in the summer and come back fit and ready to go.”

Dack missed Rovers’ last two games of the season with a hamstring injury which will be monitored over the summer.

However, he is set to return to full fitness in advance of the players returning for pre-season training in the final week of June.

Mowbray is a big fan of Dack and believes he possesses all the tools to succeed next season.

But he knows there will be question marks over the 24-year-old’s ability to step up until he can prove it on the pitch.

“Of course, but then we have to see it with our eyes,” the boss said when asked if Dack possessed the right capabilities.

“He has the confidence and the talent to influence games the way he can, driving past people and picking out those passes and scoring the goals.

“I’m looking forward to him testing himself in the environment where the players are a bit faster, a bit stronger and more technical.

“That’s the challenge for the footballers.”

Mowbray has knowledge of the Championship and is excited about the challenges that next year will bring.

There will be nowhere near the same level of expectation on Rovers’ shoulders going in to next season, but Mowbray will still want to continue the momentum which they have built during a successful promotion campaign from League One.

Dack will likely be pivotal to their hopes, but Mowbray is hoping a successful summer of recruitment can give the fans something to be excited about ahead of a return to action in August.

He added: “The Championship is a league I know well.

“I think the Championship could be the strongest Championship in a long, long time.

“I have managed a lot of years in the Championship and I think that if we can get hard working human beings and a sprinkling of individual talent you have a chance and that’s what we need to do.”
