ROVERS boss Tony Mowbray says he is relaxed over the future of his out of contract stars.

Craig Conway is the highest profile player free to leave Ewood Park in the summer while the club have a one-year option on top scorer Danny Graham.

Conway, who has made more than 170 appearances for the club since joining in 2014, is a regular in the matchday squad while Graham has 13 goals to his name this term.

But Mowbray, whose side are in the thick of a League One title race, said Rovers’ promotion push must take priority over the pair’s future.

“Craig and Danny and people who are out of contract in the summer, there is an understanding,” Mowbray told the Lancashire Telegraph.

“They are experienced footballers. We don’t even know what league we will be in yet. There is nothing nailed down.

“For instance if we were to get promoted then salary levels can increase as the budget of the football club increases.

“From their point of view there is probably no point talking about contracts at this moment. Yes you can have scenarios about what the salary might be in one league and what it might be in another league but they might have other options as well and for me it is all pretty relaxed and I think with them it is pretty relaxed as well.

“Let’s try and get over the line in this league if we can and see if we can all benefit from a promotion and then we can sit down in the summer and decide what everyone’s future is going to be.”

Liam Feeney and Elliott Ward are also out of contract but both are currently out on loan and are not expected to be offered fresh terms.

Experienced central defender Ward, who joined from Bournemouth in January 2016, is currently on loan at MK Dons.

After allowing the 33-year-old to make the move to Stadium:MK, Mowbray said: “Elliott Ward is out of contract in the summer, 33 years old, done very for us at the start of the season but the opportunity to get him another contract next year, I’m obviously mindful of the club and putting the club and not the player first, but I thought he would find himself drifting off the 18 and felt it was the right thing to do for the guy, his family, to give him an opportunity.”

Rovers have already moved to address the contract situations of youngsters Lewis Travis, Joe Nuttall, Andrew Fisher, Scott Wharton, Willem Tomlinson and Lewis Hardcastle who were previously in to the final 12 months of their deals.

Elliott Bennett also signed an extension in October, through to the summer of 2020, with Rovers currently having 19 senior players contracted for next season.
