ELLIOTT Bennett insists complacency will not enter the Rovers camp as they prepare for tonight’s home game with relegation-threatened Bury.

Tony Mowbray’s side have lost just once in the league since October 14 and are third in the table heading into the Ewood clash as they seek to achieve their promotion aim.

But Bennett revealed Rovers’ slow start to the season - where they lost to Southend United and Doncaster Rovers - acts as motivation.

“We started off the season full of high hopes and big dreams and big aspirations and fell flat on our face in the first two games so if there was any time getting carried away then we got that slapped out of us nice and early,” he said.

“We had another 44 games to look forward and since then we have done really well and hopefully we continue that for the last 14 games.

“The manager never lets us get carried away with ourselves, we all know the job in hand and it is not done until it is done.

“It was all about putting the wrongs of last season right and when we lost the first two games it was horrible and it wasn’t enjoyable period but we came through that really well and since then our quality has really shown and we have got to stay focused now and give it one big last push.”

It looks like two from three in the race for automatic promotion from League One with Rovers chasing down Shrewsbury Town and Wigan Athletic in the final few months of the season.

But Bennett insists Mowbray’s men are not feeling any extra pressure approaching the business end of the season.

“I want to win every football match, whether it is a friendly or if you get three points,” he added. “The three points are worth the same at the beginning of the season as they are now but obviously you haven’t got as long to make anything back up.

“It is a really important part of the season for us and we are all relishing the last 14 games and looking forward to what is ahead.”

Rovers were 3-0 winners over Bury earlier in the season but Bennett is anticipating a tough test in front of the Sky Sports cameras.

He added: “Every single team on their day can be dangerous. If we don’t apply ourselves and are not at from the whistle, as we have found already this season, then you can be punished.

“We will focus on what we do and try and implement our style of play on them and hope to get all three points.”
