We asked our Rovers fans how many points they think would be needed for automatic promotion?

Assuming that Wigan and Shrewsbury continue to gain points as previously then the bar is being set higher than in previous seasons.

In past campaigns Rovers current points total would probably have them favourites for promotion.

Last year 86 was enough for automatic promotion, in 2015; 85 and in 2014; 91. Because of this year's pacesetters the total is likely to be greater, so it could be 96 or more.

Most teams have a bad spell during the season so let's hope the total needed is reduced by the current top two faltering.

Paul Yates

It's looking more and more like a fight between Wigan, Shrewsbury and ourselves with the top spot looking increasingly open after Wigan's recent results.

It was predicted that Wigan would run away with it and Shrewsbury would falter but that's looking unlikely.

85 points plus should secure promotion but it's all down to fitness, consistency and mentality now. With the return of Darragh Lenihan and the options that gives us to change formation to a back three as well as his mental strength, that may well give us the upper hand.

Kelvin Wilkins

Over 90 points should be enough to secure automatic promotion. That would mean winning about 10 of the last 14 games.

It all depends on whether Shrewsbury drop points, as it's currently out of Rovers' hands. Shrewsbury are unlikely to stay unbeaten until the end of the season and Rovers have to capitalise on that.

Despite drawing at home to Oldham last weekend, the failure of the top two to win gave Rovers a lifeline. Now it's time to start cutting that gap.
