TONY Mowbray says the Rovers fans helped his side over the line in the win over Shrewsbury Town.

A crowd of 13,579, including over 1,300 from Shropshire, created an excellent atmosphere as Rovers pulled off a much-needed victory.

And boss Mowbray said: “The supporters knew it was a big game and they turned out to help the team over the line.”

“I’m delighted for the fans because they have had a tough time. I haven’t been here for years but I’m pleased for the supporters and for the owners that we’re winning games again and they can enjoy it.

“But we have 20 games to play, nothing has been achieved yet but we have given ourselves a chance to get there.”

Mowbray knows Rovers’ unbeaten run won’t continue until the end of the season and has called on the fans to stick with their team.

He added: “It’s about the bigger picture of trying to win football matches and give the fans something to smile about and knowing that win, lose or draw they have a team that is willing to give everything for the badge.

“That’s what I ask. We will lose games between now and the end of the season and as long as we go fighting then I don’t mind. Sometimes you can lose from an error, or a set play, but as long as you’re banging on the door trying to win I’ll be happy.”
