GOALKEEPER Andrew Fisher has signed a new deal at Rovers which will run until the summer of 2019.

Fisher started all three of Rovers’ Checkatrade Trophy ties and has been rewarded for his good form with the Under-23s with a contract extension.

The 19-year-old’s previous deal was set to expire next summer, but he becomes the latest of Rovers’ young guns to agree new deals.

Ryan Nyambe, Scott Wharton, Willem Tomlinson, Joe Rankin-Costello and Dan Butterworth have all penned contract extensions so far this calendar year.

Fisher has been a regular for Damien Johnson’s Under-23s but could be given the chance to go out on loan in January to further his development with more first-team football at senior level.

Rovers number one David Raya signed a contract extension through to 2019 with Rovers in in March, with Jayson Leutwiler having joined on a two-year deal in the summer to plug the gap left by Jason Steele’s departure to Sunderland.

The club also added to their goalkeeping ranks at the Academy age group with Charlie Albinson and Aaron Dillon signing in July.
