ROVERS boss Tony Mowbray insists his side will prepare for a Richie Wellens’ Oldham, rather than thinking about any possible change of manager in the opposition dugout.

Wellens is in caretaker charge of the Latics and has overseen three consecutive victories but former Manchester United and England midfielder Paul Scholes has been linked with the job in recent days while former Dutch international Clarence Seedorf had also been one of the names mentioned to succeed John Sheridan who was sacked last month.

Mowbray has been impressed with the Latics’ recent turnaround with has seen them move out of the League One dropzone.

“I said to the team that watching Oldham over the last three games I have been hugely impressed with their ball retention and with the quality of some of their players,” the Ewood chief said.

“They carry a real goal threat and I think it’s a dangerous, tricky game for us. If we have any thoughts of anything other than 100 per cent being at it for this game then we could be in trouble.

“If we don’t win this football match then it won’t be through a lack of preparation and desire.

“It’s a game we will go full tilt in to trying to get three points. “

“We should take a look of confidence and go into the game with the belief that we can win.”
