ELLIOTT Bennett is hoping another capacity following can inspire Rovers to a fourth consecutive away win when they travel to League One leaders Shrewsbury Town this weekend.

Rovers have sold out their allocation of 1,500 tickets for the game at the Montgomery Waters Meadow.

That will take their aggregate following from their opening five away games to around 9,000, and Bennett says that level of support does not go unnoticed.

“The away following we had in the Rochdale game, as well as Bradford and Scunthorpe, shows they are willing to travel to support us and obviously we’re all about sending them off home happier more times than not,” Bennett said.

“Anyone, in anything you’re doing, when people are looking out for you and wanting you to do well, you are always trying your best of course, but when you have that support behind you it helps.

“When we are taking as many as we are away from home it is almost like a home atmosphere for us and takes away an edge other teams may have.

“It was a shame that we didn’t have a game this Tuesday to try and put last Saturday right sooner but we’re looking forward to Saturday.

“We have three games in a week and will be looking to take maximum points from them all as we always do.”

Rovers’ winning run was ended at four games by AFC Wimbledon as the Dons became the second team to leave Ewood Park with three points this season.

But things have been better on the road for Tony Mowbray’s men who have recorded three consecutive away victories without conceding a goal.

On Saturday they head to Shropshire to face Paul Hurst’s side who have won seven and drawn one of their opening eight fixtures.

“We have done well away from home this season, we had the disappointing result on the opening day at Southend, but barring that, we have been really solid,” Bennett added.

“We have beaten teams whose home records last season speak for themselves and it’s another challenge.

“Shrewsbury are top of the league at the minute and they deserve to be there, they are on a good run, but so were Bradford when we went there.

“We will be looking to go there and get all three points.”

Rovers were below-par in last weekend’s defeat which leaves them 11th in the table after seven games, three points off the play-offs with a game in hand on almost all the sides above them.

Rovers responded to back-to-back defeats to start the season with a run of four straight wins, but Bennett insists boss Mowbray keeps the players on an even keel.

“The gaffer doesn’t let you get too high with winning or too low after losing,” the midfielder said.

“We went through the game on Monday and it was disappointing, we went through where we went wrong and this week we’ve been working on ways to put it right.

“But we can’t just focus on last weekend, there’s nothing we can do now, we lost 1-0 and have to make sure it doesn’t happen too often at home.

“We focus on Shrewsbury now and that’s where our focus is.”
