TONY Mowbray admits choosing whether to start Harry Chapman, or utilise his pace off the bench as a substitute, is a tough decision ahead of the weekend trip to Rochdale.

Chapman impressed as a starter in the Checkatrade Trophy win over Stoke City U21s, three days after influencing the game when coming on in the 4-1 win over MK Dons, in which he had a hand in two of the goals.

Mowbray must now decide whether to unleash the Middlesbrough loanee from the start.

“They are your decisions as a manager,” Mowbray said.

“Chapman’s mobility and speed is quite eye-catching at times.

“When teams are pushing on to us and overload areas, he can counter-attack away and score from his breakaways.

“We left him on the bench (against MK Dons), even though he was good against Burnley (in the Carabao Cup), and thankfully he came on and made the difference.

“(Elliott) Bennett and (Craig) Conway do what is required in this league to get us in the game, make sure the opposition are in a proper football match and they both have a fantastic work ethic and ability to cover ground and make tackles.

“It’s okay to go out there and play wingers, but the young boys might not be in the right position to have a defensive mind about them and you can be out of a game before you’re in it.

“There will be times when we start with a winger, and three midfielder players.”
