TONY Mowbray is hoping Darragh Lenihan will be the only absentee for Rovers’ trip to Bradford City.

Lenihan is struggling with an ankle injury and has missed Rovers’ last two games.  However, with Craig Conway expected to be back in the squad, and Mowbray hopeful over one or two niggles to other members of his squad, Lenihan could well be the only player not to make the trip to West Yorkshire.

Of Lenihan, Mowbray said: “Darragh is still the main injury concern for us, but hopefully everyone will train tomorrow apart from Darragh and we will have a full collection of players to choose from.

“He’s been on a treadmill trying to get himself going, see if he can run pain free and building himself up, doing some stuff in the pool, in the gym, and getting him re-activated and hopefully not before too long we will see him with his boots on and back on the grass.”

Scott Wharton has also missed Rovers’ first three games of the season, as well as the final weeks of pre-season.

He featured in the friendlies with Barrow, Sparta Prague and York City, but hasn’t been involved since.  However, he is back training and nearing full fitness.

And Mowbray will assess the 19-year-old before determining how big a part he will play this season.

“He missed a lot of pre-season and he’s back to the point where he’s doing training weeks to get back up to speed,” Mowbray added of Wharton who spent the second half of last season on loan at Cambridge.

“It will be beneficial to work with the first-team and be around the players.

“I have enjoyed watching him and was frustrated that he didn’t get more game-time through pre-season because of his injury.

“But watching him in training has been good and we will see how he progresses and if he’s ready to compete to get in our team or it’s another season of learning.”
