ROVERS have had a bid rejected for Peterborough utility man Michael Bostwick, accoring to Posh chairman Darragh MacAnthony.

Bostwick was named Posh’s player of the year for 2016/17 but only has a year left to run on his current deal at the ABAX Stadium.

Because of that, he has been placed on the transfer list by Peterbrough, as is common place with the League One club for players in the last 12 months of their deals.

And MacAnthony has claimed on Twitter that Rovers have had a bid rejected for the 29-year-old.

The Posh chairman said the bid fell well short of his valuation of the player that joined from Stevenage in the summer of 2012.

Bostwick – who can operate in central defence or central midfield – has played 228 times in all for Posh having started his career at Millwall.

League One sides Rotherham United, Charlton Athletic and MK Dons have also been linked with a move for Bostwick so far in this window, while Sheffield United saw an enquiry rebuffed in January.

Speaking about Bostwick last month, Peterborough director of Football Barry Fry said: “We are keeping Michael informed of any interest in him, but he knows if we don’t get a suitable offer he won’t be going anywhere.

“If that turns out to be the case we will be happy to sit down with him and discuss a new deal.”
