IT is good to see Tony Mowbray has been allowed to bring in Mark Venus as his number two.

It is often the case that managers and coaches stick together and I am sure Tony will value having his own man in the dug-out alongside him.

He will be able to bounce ideas off him and the pair worked together in League One recently at Coventry City, so they know what the division is all about which will be crucial.

I would expect a busy couple of weeks at Rovers now on the recruitment side as I am sure that Tony and Mark will sit down together and work out what areas of the pitch need strengthening and who they can bring in.

It is also positive that the owners have sanctioned the change and are allowing Tony to make his own appointments.

That is a good sign and to me shows that Tony is being given a bit of control on the football side of things which is important for the club.

What will be interesting to see now is what happens to David Dunn and David Lowe who stepped up in to the first team coaching set-up after Owen Coyle left.

Whatever happens the pair must stay at Rovers. It is vital that the experience the duo have at the club is retained.

They have both worked hard with the first team and played a part in those decent results at the end of last season and it is important to keep them at the club.

Personally, I would like to see them involved in the senior set-up but even if they go back to the Under-23s and the Academy as long as they are kept on because Blackburn need to make sure they can utilise their know-how.

It is crucial for someone like Dunny to continue to be involved at Rovers. He is Blackburn through and through and I am a big believer in ex-players being an asset in coaching capacities at clubs like Rovers.

It is also good that the fans can see someone like him involved and hopefully helping the next generation of Rovers legends come through.

Dunny is a passionate Rovers fan and if that can help some of the current players understand what it means to be a Blackburn player then he should be utilised.
