MARVIN Emnes has thanked the Blackburn Rovers fans for their support during his loan spell and admits: “our squad was too good for what happened to us”.

Emnes’ time at Rovers ended at Brentford on May 7 where despite a 3-1 win, they were relegated to League One.

The Dutchman joined the club initially on a six month loan in August, and despite returning to Swansea for three weeks at the beginning of January, signed up for the remainder of the season at Ewood Park on transfer deadline day.

His first spell started well, scoring three times in his first five outings, and made 19 appearances in all.

After his return in January he found appearances harder to come by, used mainly as a substitute, but did end a six month wait for a goal with a stunning solo goal in the win over Wigan Athletic on March 4.

Emnes faces an uncertain future, with his contract at Swansea set to expire this summer, but has wished Rovers well for the future.

“I appreciated the support from the fans and everyone around the club,” he told the club’s official website.

“I enjoyed my time at Blackburn Rovers from the first minute until the last.

“It was good to get some game time again and I have to thank Blackburn Rovers for that.

“We made it difficult for ourselves, as our squad was too good for what happened to us.

“We will see what the future brings, but again thank you for the support. The only way is up.”
