ROVERS head coach Tony Mowbray says he won’t be losing any sleep over the mathematics surrounding his side’s relegation battle.

Mowbray admits he doesn’t know how many wins Rovers will need from their final seven games to stay in the Championship, but believes victories are just around the corner.

Rovers are without a win in their last five games after a 1-0 reverse at Brighton, but frustrated their Premier League-chasing hosts for much of the afternoon.

They remain one point from safety, and 22nd in the table, with Mowbray hoping things will drop in their favour in the remaining seven games.

“I don’t know, it’s not something I lose sleep about,” Mowbray said when asked how many wins he felt were required.

“But what I do know is that we will win some games because of the attitude, desire and approach of this group of players.

“I feel they have deserved a lot more than they have got in the last five games, but that’s football, sometimes.

“We just have to keep working extremely hard until they start falling for us.”

Rovers failed to score at Brighton, and also didn’t register a shot on target during the 90 minutes, but Mowbray says that’s not an area of concern.

He added: “Scoring goals hasn’t really been a problem for us.

“Against Brighton they are a particularly tight defensive unit, (Lewis) Dunk is probably the best central defender outside of the Premier League.

“I felt that we got in to some decent areas and positions but couldn’t quite manage to finish it off.

“But we’ll move on very quickly.”
