CRAIG Conway is eyeing a vital three points for Blackburn Rovers in their crunch Championship relegation six-pointer with Burton Albion tonight in what is set to be his 100th league start for the club.

The 31-year-old has 133 Rovers appearances to his name since joining in January 2014, but he will bring up his century milestone should he be included in Tony Mowbray’s first team selection at the Pirelli Stadium.

With Rovers in desperate need of points in their quest to stay up in the Championship, Conway admits a victory would be the perfect way to mark the occasion.

He said: “I love it here and I want to play a big part in keeping us in this league.

“I’ve loved every minute of being here, everyone has been brilliant with me.

“It will be a great moment, but getting the result on the pitch and three points is the best celebration I could ask for.”

Rovers travel to Burton in the bottom three, six points behind their relegation rivals, but with two games in hand.

A win in Mowbray’s first game in charge would be a big boost ahead of three consecutive home games.

And Conway, speaking before Owen Coyle had been axed and Mowbray appointed as his replacement at Ewood Park, added: “There’s no getting away from the fact that it’s a massive game for us and one that we’re looking to get three points from.

“I’m sure Burton will be looking at it exactly the same.

“We’ll go in to it with confidence and the last few weeks, results apart, the performances haven’t been too bad.

“The main aim is to stay in the league and we will be fighting for every point.

“We’ve got some home games coming up, and the game at Burton is massive, so we’ve just got to take one game at a time and get as many points as we can.”

Conway is now one of the club’s longest serving players having joined for an undisclosed fee from Cardiff City three years ago.

“Being one of the more experienced ones you’re probably one of the players that people look to in the situation we’re in,” he said.

“We’ve got some great young players coming through, and hopefully I can help them, but we have a great squad, and hopefully we can kick on now and pick up some results.”
