BLACKBURN Rovers remain in talks with their three transfer targets who manager Owen Coyle revealed are all under contract at their respective clubs.

Rovers are yet to add to their squad this month but Coyle admits he has three targets in mind who he would like to bring in to the club.

Coyle is keen to strengthen in a bid to move Rovers clear of the Championship relegation zone with 20 games of the season remaining after the 3-2 weekend defeat at Ipswich Town.

The Rovers boss says he has left transfer discussions in the hands of recently appointed Football Director Paul Senior in a bid to try and close out those deals.

It is understood that at least one of the targets doesn’t play in England, but Coyle was coy on revealing their identities for fear of missing out on the players to other clubs.

“I’m led to believe that talks are ongoing,” the Rovers chief said.

“Paul (Senior) has obviously come in and in his position he has taken that on, and hopefully we can get some deals done.

“All three players aren’t free agents, they are at other clubs, good clubs, and that’s why I think the dialogue continues.”

Clubs have until 11pm on January 31 to add to their squads and Coyle admits it would be beneficial to bring in players as early as possible in a bid to bed them in ahead of what promises to be a busy run of fixtures for Rovers.

But the Rovers boss refused to reveal the identities of his targets.

He added: “We all know that when you target players the sooner they come in the better for everyone for a number of reasons.

“There is always that fear as manager that someone else will steal them from you.

“That is why I am reluctant to mention any individual names for fear of alerting people to our targets.”

Coyle signed 12 players in the summer after taking charge at Ewood Park, with six of those arrivals being on loan deals.

Martin Samuelsen and Jack Byrne have since returned to West Ham and Manchester City respectively after seeing their season-long loan deals cut short.

West Ham full-back Stephen Hendrie remains at Rovers, despite having not featured for the first-team since the 1-1 draw with Wolves on October 29.

But the 22-year-old, who has seven appearances to his name, is likely to leave the club in a bid to secure first-team football elsewhere.

“We have had dialogue with West Ham because obviously Stephen needs game-time,” Coyle added.

“He’s still training with us, he’s a great lad and a good pro and he’s only young and will get better.”
