NEW Blackburn Rovers signing Jack Byrne admitted it was a 'no-brainer' to move to Ewood Park on a season-long loan from Manchester City.

The 20-year-old midfielder spent last season on loan at Dutch top-flight side SC Cambuur where he scored four goals in 27 games.

And the playmaker admitted that new Rovers boss Owen Coyle had a huge part to play in his Ewood move.

“Once I spoke to him and heard where I was going to play and the plans he had for this season, and his enthusiasm for the season going forward, it was a no-brainer for me," said Byrne.

“I only had to have a five-minute conversation with him and I put the phone down and said ‘yes, let’s get this deal done’.

“So I’m looking forward to it and I really can’t wait to get started and to meet the fans at the first game of the season. I’m excited.

“I know even when the fixtures came out the other day, I was looking at them and you get excited and you get a little tingle in your stomach.

“I’ve had that feeling since I spoke to Owen (Coyle) and since he asked me to come and play. It was a no-brainer for me straight away.

“It’s an unbelievable club, which has won the Premier League, so hopefully I can help the boys out and we can kick on this season.”
