IT will be a day of football and fun at the WEC Group Anchor Ground in Darwen tomorrow (Saturday, May 28) as Blackburn Rovers supporters come together to raise funds for a worthy cause.
All proceeds from the annual Rovers Fans Charity Fundraiser will go to the Poppy-Mai Appeal.
Last year’s event generated £1,400 for East Lancs Hospice and organisers are hoping to beat that total for a charity that offers respite for parents and families with terminally ill children.
Doors open at 10.30am with the football kicking off an hour later with a ladies match followed by a children’s matches at 1.30pm.
Then at 3pm the event finale sees the Anchor Blues Darwen take on the Brown Cow Blues Blackburn in a battle for the John Riley Senior Memorial Trophy.
There will be lots to do for those not taking part in the matches with face painting, a balloon race and crossbar challenge on site along with food and a licensed bar.
Entry is by donation (suggested donation £1).
The fun continues in the evening at the Anchor Hotel with a fundraising raffle, barbecue, karaoke and disco from 7.30pm.
