THERE are clouds over Blackburn Rovers at the moment and nobody can see a thing, There is no clarity. It doesn’t appear to be going anywhere. It’s frustrating for everyone.

There’s a whole lot of things that need to be sorted. We don’t know who the new manager is yet and in turn we don’t know whether the assistant manager and first-team coach will be staying.

And until those positions are confirmed it is going to be hard to sort out the futures of the players who are out of contract and the players who are going back to their parent clubs.

But another big priority has to be the release of season ticket details. Season tickets are usually priced up in advance, months and months before they go on sale, but we haven’t even got ours out yet.

The fans need to know if they are going to stay the same price, whether they are going to be cheaper, or whether they are going to be more expensive. The fans need to know.

And the longer you leave it the bigger danger there is of fans walking away. A lot of people I know are considering doing that because there isn’t anything positive happening.

I played at the Football Aid game at Ewood Park last week and the fans were asking me what’s going on. I couldn’t tell them anything because, like them, I’m a fan who wants to know.

I’m sure you’ll have people working at the football who will be scratching their heads as well.

So what we need now is for decisions to be made and then announced, starting with season tickets.

That said it is going to be harder to tempt fans back or new fans to the club if a manager is not in place. That, then, has to be the other big priority.

What type of manager do I think we should go for? Realistically we need somebody who will be willing to work without any money, somebody who can work on a basic budget, and somebody who can help progress the youth through the system rapidly.

That is the type of profile I’m looking at because there doesn’t look to be any money around the football club.

But you’ve got to remain ambitious. That’s why the new manager who comes in will have to get us punching above our weight.

At this moment in time we still have some decent players and it will be up to the new manager to try and get that extra 20 per cent out of them.

Paul Lambert couldn’t do that but you never know the next manager could come in, get the players playing a better standard, and the next thing you know we could be flying.

But for now that seems a long way off.
