KELVIN WILKINS

PAUL Lambert knew the situation with the owners before taking the job so shouldn’t be claiming to be a victim. Having succeeded with a system at Norwich, I believe he underestimated the job at Blackburn and the increased challenge of the Championship.

With the more attractive position at Celtic now available, I believe he is using Venky’s as an easy way to cover up his failings at Blackburn whilst maintaining his reputation. Blackburn are better off without him as the only good thing he brought to the club is Danny Graham.

The attacking, pressing football he promised hasn’t materialised and he has diluted the squad with mediocrity.

Whilst he is safeguarding his own reputation by diverting blame onto Venky’s, he is further damaging the credibility of the club, ensuring we are even less attractive to any prospective manager.

If only we had a manager that cared more about the club than his own ego, or rather, if only we hadn’t sacked one! Where now? Step forward Damien Johnson.

PAUL YATES

I SUSPECT there is more to this episode than meets the eye. I don’t know why he came to the club in the first place knowing its recent history. And why does he wants to leave if it is a ‘brilliant’ club!

If he was given assurances then he has never alluded to them. His record at Rovers is poor and he did little to boost the players’ morale with his constant grumbling. His complaints should have been kept in-house, not made public.

It’s just another sad saga in the terminal demise of a once great club.

IN a word, disappointed. Although unsurprising, I think it is a real shame that Paul Lambert is leaving. Results have not been great, but it often takes time and there was the potential to turn this team around next season. Now it is very much back to square one.

It was a welcome change to see some attacking football being played during Saturday’s game. The new 3-4-1-2 formation worked well and Rovers looked like a proper team.

There was also a lot of defiance shown by Rovers supporters. Whilst showing our feelings towards the owners and conversely to Lambert, support for the team never wavered throughout.

There is no doubt that the uncertainty surrounding the club is a worrying situation. Especially given the lack of authority figures in a position to appoint a new manager. But we must move on and continue backing the players, whoever is in charge.
