IN-FORM striker Danny Graham reckons Blackburn Rovers’ failure to beat the teams around them is the main reason why are stumbling over the line.

Rovers will head to Rotherham United on Saturday hoping to improve their wretched record against sides in the lower half of the table.

The Ewood Park outfit have taken 24 points from a possible 60 against teams currently in the bottom 12 in the Championship.

Only relegated trio MK Dons (24), Bolton Wanderers (20) and Charlton Athletic (15), along with this weekend’s opponents Rotherham (15), have accrued less.

And Graham, who scored twice in last weekend’s 2-2 home draw with fellow strugglers Bristol City, said: “We’ve stumbled over the line and, with the quality that we’ve got, we shouldn’t be doing that.

“Against the big teams we seem to have done very well but we’ve been very inconsistent against the teams that are in and around us.

“That’s cost us and that’s why we are where we are.”

Rovers remain in a fight to avoid finishing fourth from bottom after the draw with the Robins extended their winless run to six games.

It would have been worse for Paul Lambert’s side had Graham not equalised late on with what was his third goal in two matches.

That took his tally up to six in 16 appearances since signing on loan from Sunderland where he netted just once during an unhappy three-year spell.

But Graham’s delight at returning to goalscoring form is tempered by Rovers’ drop down the standings.

He said: “We seem to be getting punished for every single mistake we make at the minute.

“Fair play to the boys on Saturday, they showed we’ve got a bit of mettle about us, which was pleasing, although personally I wasn’t happy with the draw because we should have got the three points.

“It’s a team game, and while I’m pleased with my performances, the most important thing is getting back to winning ways. Hopefully we’ll do that on Saturday.”

Graham is expected to lead the line at against Rotherham, in what will be Rovers’ final away game of the campaign, despite continuing to be troubled by the tight hamstring.

He said: “It’s still there but, apart from that I feel good, I feel confident, and I feel as though as if I’m contributing to the team, which is pleasing.

“I’m doing a bit of light training to keep me ticking over and the physios are working hard on me to make sure I’m as fit as possible.”

Rovers have been allocated an additional 200 tickets for Saturday’s trip to Rotherham after their initial 1,210 allocation was snapped up.

Tickets, which cost £23 for adults, £13 for over-60s and students, £8 for under-18s, and £6 for under-12s, will be on sale from the Roverstore at Ewood Park until 4pm tomorrow.

There will be no sales on the day from the New York Stadium.
