IT may not have felt it at the time but it is a good thing that Paul Lambert came out and said he was disappointed his side had only picked up a point at Middlesbrough. It shows how well Rovers played.

I listened to the game on Radio Lancashire and Mark Atkins was talking very positively about the performance.

Those comments, and what Paul had to say at the end, has left me feeling positive.

Hopefully the tide is turning. People are seeing what Paul wants to do and hopefully now the players are buying into it.

It’s no surprise that our little unbeaten run has coincided with new players coming in.

When a manager arrives at a club he will always want to bring in players he thinks can suit his system best.

It seems he wants two players up front who can work a defence with their movement.

Tony Watt has certainly got that and I’m really hoping we are the club that brings out the best in him.

Tony burst on to the scene with Celtic and that winning goal against Barcelona but he’s moved around a bit since then and not really settled anywhere.

We could be a stabilising club for him. That would be fantastic because there is no doubt he has got talent.

The same could be said of Jordi Gomez. I’ve said before that when you look at our centre midfielders all of them are similar.

But not Jordi. He will bring something different to the table.

It’s become clear in his opening weeks in charge Paul was thinking about his jigsaw pieces and, in the last month, he has tried to get as many into place as possible.

Now you’ve just got to hope they all fit and we have a strong end to the season.

We are unbeaten in four games but we need to get back to winning ways in the league.

We’ll have the perfect opportunity to do that with all these home games we have coming up.

Hull City, on Saturday, is going to be difficult, but as was proven at the weekend, teams at the bottom can take points off teams at the top.

We’ve just get to get away from those relegation places and finish as strongly as we can.

With the way the season started you always thought it was going to be top 10 at best.

But when Paul first came in you started to dream a bit after getting on the shirt-tails of the play-off places. Obviously, though, the form deteriorated and we have almost gone back to square one.

But the performance at Middlesbrough should give the players plenty of confidence.
