TOM Lawrence admits he can’t wait to get started at Cardiff City having completed his loan switch to the Welsh club.

The Leicester City striker played his last game for Blackburn Rovers as a second-half substitute in the 3-0 FA Cup win over Oxford United on Saturday before his Ewood Park loan expired.

The 22-year-old joined Rovers in August on a three-month loan deal and Paul Lambert had initially been interested in extending his Ewood stay until the end of the season.

In the end Lawrence stayed until the end of January, making 23 appearances for Rovers and scoring twice.

And, having joined the Bluebirds until the end of the season, Lawrence has now set his eyes on a play-off push with Russel Slade’s side.

“I’m very pleased to be here,” he said.

“I can’t wait to get going now.

“This is a great opportunity for me and hopefully I can help to get the team as high up the league as possible.”

And Lawrence, whose Rovers goals came against Charlton Athletic and Brentford, also wants to improve his scoring statistics.

The Welshman, who is hoping to win a place in Chris Coleman’s squad for this summer’s European Championships, added: “I wouldn’t put a number on it, but my target is to score as many goals as I can, create as many as I can and affect games as much as I can.”
