I THINK Jordan Rhodes’ move to Middlesbrough is good for all parties.

Blackburn are getting a lot of money for him, he’s going to a club that has got a good chance of getting promoted, which he’s always wanted to achieve, and it will give Paul Lambert a chance to rebuild and restructure the team and the club the way he sees fit.

MORE TOP STORIES:

There was only so long Blackburn could hold on to Jordan. They have denied him a couple of moves in the recent past and on each occasion he has continued to work hard and get goals.

That’s what he guarantees you – goals. He did it every season he was here and I’ve got no doubt he would have got 20 goals for a fourth season running had he remained at Blackburn.

It’s just a shame that those goals did not fire Blackburn back into the top division again.

And because of that it was always inevitable that someone was going to come along and try and enhance their team by buying him. Middlesbrough have done that.

Blackburn’s cause wasn’t helped by going into a Financial Fair Play embargo but they are out of that now and the money raised by Jordan’s sale will help Paul really put his mark on the place.

He’s already gone out and got a couple of forward players and hopefully once the loan window opens later this month he can add to what he’s got.

Only time will tell how people like Danny Graham and Tony Watt do and, like any new signings, it’s how they adapt to the training sessions and how they adapt to the starting XI.

But at least Paul got the players in there before Jordan had gone.

That said I’m sure Paul would have preferred Jordan to have gone earlier on in January as it may have allowed him to spend some of the money.

But, as I say, there’s not too long until the loan window opens, and I’m sure he’ll be looking for more players, because it’s clear he wanted someone like Aiden McGeady.
