BLACKBURN Rovers are hopeful Jason Steele and Ben Marshall will be fit for Saturday’s FA Cup fourth-round clash at Oxford United – and they could be joined in the squad by a new recruit.

It is understood that Rovers are close to signing Charlton Athletic striker Tony Watt on loan.

Steele was unable to take goal-kicks late on in Saturday’s 1-1 Championship draw at Charlton, for whom Watt played, after taking a whack to his back.

Should the goalkeeper miss out his place will be taken by either David Raya or Simon Eastwood, who has recently returned from a calf injury.

Right-back Marshall missed the Charlton match with a nasty gash to the back of his heel which he sustained in the third-round win at Oxford’s League Two rivals Newport.

But both players trained today and provided there is no reaction, they should be in the travelling party for Rovers’ first ever trip to the Kassam Stadium.

However midfielders Danny Guthrie, Lee Williamson and Jason Lowe, as well as frontman Nathan Delfouneso, remain injured.

Chris Brown serves the second game of his three-match ban while fellow forward Danny Graham is cup-tied having featured for Sunderland in the third round.
