BLACKBURN Rovers boss Paul Lambert is hoping to make at least one new signing today.

But Lambert chose to stay tight-lipped over whether Sunderland striker Danny Graham is on his way to Ewood Park.

Rovers have always been hopeful that they could do a deal with the player and the Black Cats.

But when asked about Graham, Lambert, speaking after last night’s FA Cup victory at Newport County, said: “Names are getting bandied about but while it’s probably boring for you to write and listen to, we can’t talk about anybody’s players until they come through the door.”

But Lambert did confirm it could be a busy day for Rovers.

He said: “We’ll try and get one or two guys in to help us. We’re trying at this moment and hopefully somebody will be in tomorrow. Maybe another one but we’ll have to wait and see.”

Lambert lost Matt Kilgallon and Lee Williamson to illness and injury respectively before last night’s match and Chris Brown 10 minutes into it after he was shown a straight red card.

But they managed to progress to the fourth round thanks to a 75th-minute strike from top-scorer Jordan Rhodes who, earlier in the day, was the subject of renewed reports linking him with Middlesbrough and Sheffield Wednesday.

Lambert said: “I haven’t heard anything about Jordan leaving since I’ve been here. As far as I am concerned he is our player and we are delighted with his contribution.

“Until a manager picks up the phone and asks the question then I don’t have a problem but I haven’t had any calls at all.

“He’s a terrific professional, he gives it everything he’s got in all the games, which to be fair, all the group do. They are a great group to work with. Okay we have our moments when we haven’t won games but one thing I can’t fault is their effort.”
