Jason Steele 6

Got away with one when he came for a corner and missed his punch, but otherwise was solid and had no chance with the goals.

Adam Henley 6

Full-back got up and down the right flank in the first half but had his hands full in the second after the arrival of Lucas Joao.

Shane Duffy 7

Won more headers and made more clearances than anyone else in a Rovers shirt but nodded decent second-half chance wide.

Grant Hanley 7

Was beaten by Kieran Lee in the lead-up to Wednesday’s first equaliser but could do little about the second as he was down injured.

Markus Olsson 6

Made his fair share of clearances but was caught out by Atdhe Nuhiu’s header which led to Lee’s decisive run into the Rovers area.

Ben Marshall 6

Had enough free-kick opportunities to score against his former club but failed to trouble Kieran Westwood. Worked hard.

Hope Akpan 7

Much improved in possession than he was last week and took his first goal for the club expertly. Not far away from a second.

Corry Evans 7

Opened his account for the campaign with the aid of a deflection and, like his midfield partner Akpan, produced a decent display.

Craig Conway 7

Created the opening goal before another of his pinpoint corners led to Rovers going back in front. Put in a real shift.

Chris Taylor 7

Whether it was behind the striker, or out on the right, where he was stationed in the second half, he got through a lot of hard graft.

Jordan Rhodes 6

Ran his socks off up front on his own but it was not until virtually the last kick of the contest that he had a chance created for him.
