PAUL Lambert has not ruled out bolstering his Blackburn Rovers squad before the closure of the emergency loan window.

The new Rovers boss has space for two signings under the terms of the club’s Financial Fair Play embargo.

And Lambert, who kicked off his Ewood Park reign with a derby victory at Preston North End on Saturday, admits he has identified positions he feels need strengthening.

He said: “There are areas where we think we need to be stronger.

“In my own opinion and my staff’s opinion we think we need to be stronger in certain areas.

“Whether that happens, it’s like any transfer window, you have to wait and see what’s going to come.

“I’ve got to be fair to the lads here as well. They’ve got to be given a fair chance to show me what they can do. Then I can judge it from there.

“We’ve come in at a time where it’s a really quick turnaround.”

The emergency loan window closes on Thursday and, while the main transfer window reopens on January 1, Lambert will act if the right players become available.

“I could wait until January but on the other hand I could bring somebody in,” said the Scot, who cannot pay loan fees for new additions and is restricted to a maximum wage of £10,000 per week.

“But if I bring somebody in it’s got to be for the better of the team. You can’t bring somebody in just to be a number or to sit on the bench.

“They’ve got to get in the side and stay in the side. I don’t want to replace them with anybody that I don’t think will make a contribution to the team.”

Luke Wall, meanwhile, has become the latest Rovers youngster to be sent out on loan to non-league.

The 19-year-old attacker made his debut for Skelmersdale United in their 2-1 home win over Blyth Spartans on Saturday.

Wall will remain with Evo-Stik League Premier Division outfit Skelmersdale until December 19.
