CRAIG Conway has expressed his desire to remain at Blackburn Rovers for years to come.

Rovers have lost Tom Cairney to Fulham and saw other stars names linked with moves away this summer.

But Conway, who has established himself as a integral member of Gary Bowyer’s side since his £100,000 switch from Cardiff City, does not want to go anywhere.

The winger has 12 months remaining on the two-and-a-half-year deal he penned on his arrival from the Welsh capital in January 2014.

And Conway, who has laid on an impressive 23 goals in 62 appearances for Rovers, would have no hesitation in extending his stay at Ewood Park.

“Me and my family are really happy here, we’re really settled, we’ve bought a house, and everything has gone really well,” said the Scotland international.

“I’ve got a year left but I want to stay here as long as I can because I’m really enjoying it.”

That admission will be welcomed by Rovers supporters after another fans’ favourite, Cairney, was sold to Championship rivals Fulham for a fee that could rise past £3.5m.

Conway admits the loss of the midfield playmaker, who won player of the year and goal of the season awards in his two years at the club, is a blow.

But he insists that Rovers can and will have to get over Cairney’s shock sale.

“Tom’s a top player who did really well for us and was a calming influence on the ball,” said Conway, 30, who ended last season in fantastic form.

“But, at the end of the day, that’s football, other teams will go after good players. It’s happened to us but we need to get on with it.

“We’ve got a lot of good players left in the squad and, as I say, that’s football, people leave clubs and people join clubs, so we’ll see what we can do.

“But I think we’ve got a good squad and hopefully we can keep hold of everyone and kick on next season.”
