BLACKBURN Rovers boss Gary Bowyer is considering handing a full debut to John O’Sullivan or Darragh Lenihan at Birmingham City tomorrow night.

Both players are in the squad for the Championship fixture at St Andrew’s and therefore will not feature in tonight’s Under 21 Premier League Cup final first leg against Southampton at Ewood Park.

O'Sullivan has had loan spells with Accrington Stanley and Barnsley this season, while Lenihan has been with Burton Albion.

The duo were unused substitutes in Rovers' first team game at Reading on Saturday and Bowyer hinted that one of them could start against Birmingham.

“It’s progress that they’re both in the squad tomorrow night and one might get his debut,” Bowyer said this afternoon.

The Rovers boss confirmed that Alex Baptiste will be absent for two weeks with the hamstring problem he sustained against Liverpool last week.

“It’s not as bad as first feared,” Bowyer said.

“We think he’ll be a couple of weeks but it’s not a completely bad one, so hopefully we might be able to get him back in before the end of the season.”

Josh King could also return from a hamstring injury before the end of the campaign.

Bowyer said: “He was out on the grass today, he didn’t join in with us but we certainly hope that by the end of the week he could be joining in with us.”
