BRENTFORD boss Mark Warburton hinted Blackburn Rovers will find it hard to catch his side after they won last night’s five-goal thriller between the teams at Ewood Park 3-2.

Had Rovers made it four straight league wins for the first time since November 2007 they would have closed the gap on the sixth-placed Brentford to five points.

But instead that gap now stands at 11 after Chris Long, and then Jota, brought the Bees level before Andre Gray stepped off the bench to score their late winner.

Warburton said: “We knew had we lost that game Blackburn would have been very, very tight to us and had great momentum.

“People talk about nerves but it was a great win and, with the greatest respect to Blackburn, it puts us 11 points clear.

“You saw tonight late goals, equalisers, people dropping points and that will carry on week in, week out.

“Our only focus is on Brentford.”

The Bees trailed at the break and Warburton said: “We were frustrated and angry at half-time as a group because the standards had been so high that they have set.

“But I thought it was a fantastic response, in the second half we looked strong.

“I thought we were worthy winners in the end.”
