JORDAN Rhodes’ superb goalscoring form since Blackburn Rovers made it clear they have no intention of letting their prized asset leave has come as no surprise to one of the team-mates who knows him best.

Rhodes has scored four times in five games, including the winner in Saturday’s 1-0 victory at Fulham, after Rovers rejected Hull City’s attempts to sign him before the summer transfer window shut.

The Tigers tabled an offer of in excess of £10m for the 24-year-old Scotland international.

And, after Rovers owners Venky’s turned it down, Rhodes has continued to prove why he is regarded as the most feared frontman outside of the Premier League with a hot streak which he will attempt to keep going in Saturday’s home clash with Watford.

Winger Ben Marshall, who is Rhodes’ room-mate on away trips, had no doubt the prolific striker would remain unaffected by the speculation surrounding him.

Marshall said: “Jordan’s the kind of lad who doesn’t let anything bother him, he just gets on with it.

“He’s just a down-to-earth lad. He didn’t go anywhere so he’s just got on with it and done his job.

“Of course it was a massive boost to keep him – we all didn’t want him to go.

“He’s here now so hopefully he can push on keep getting the goals.”

Rhodes’ clinically taken goal against Fulham was his 57th in 104 matches for Rovers following his club record £8m move from Huddersfield Town in August 2012.

And it was one which drew huge praise from his manager.

Rovers boss Gary Bowyer said: “When it falls to that man in the box you’re delighted.

“The calmness of his finish was outstanding as it came to him from a ricochet. The composure he showed was unbelievable.

“It’s frightening but we see it every day in training.

“It was an unbelievable finish from him and that’s the skill that he’s got.

“That’s his job and he’s fantastic at it.”

Rhodes is joint top of the Rovers scoring charts alongside strike-partner Rudy Gestede.

But one goal behind on three is the fit-again Marshall.

He joked: “Maybe Jordan’s goalscoring has rubbed off on me!

“He likes to say he’s looking after me so I might be getting a bit of his luck.”

Bowyer has seven players – Tommy Spurr, Chris Brown, Jason Lowe, David Dunn, Paul Robinson, Lee Williamson and Tom Cairney – carrying injuries or knocks.

Midfielders Williamson and Cairney were the latest entries into the busy Brockhall treatment room after they were fouled out of the game on Saturday.

Williamson was fortunate to escape with bruising only following an X-rated challenge from Shaun Hutchinson that earned the Fulham defender a red card.

But Williamson does have a chance of playing against Watford this weekend.

Cairney, who hurt his foot early on after being felled by Fernando Amorebieta, hopes to return to training tomorrow.
