Chris Brown could make Blackburn Rovers squad for Cardiff City

NEW Blackburn Rovers striker Chris Brown could play a part in Friday’s opening game of the Championship campaign at home to Cardiff City – despite the fact he has not played a minute of pre-season.

A knee injury ruled the 29-year-old out of all five of Rovers’ summer friendlies.

But Brown, a free transfer arrival from Doncaster, has trained for the last three days.

And Rovers boss Gary Bowyer has not ruled out naming the 6ft 3in frontman in his squad for the hotly anticipated clash with the Bluebirds – and from making a potential cameo off the bench.

Bowyer, whose players enjoyed a day off yesterday, said: “Browny has had three really positive days.

“If he can out on the grass on Wednesday and Thursday then there’ll be no reason why he can’t do 15-20 minutes.”

Brown has been brought in to provide competition for first-choice targetman Rudy Gestede and make an impact off the bench.

But he is yet to show Rovers supporters why Bowyer believes the former Sunderland and Preston North End forward can have a big role to play this season.

Brown sat out the opening two pre-season encounters against AFC Telford United and Accrington Stanley.

But, after returning to training, he was set to make his first appearance for Rovers against Bradford City only for his knee to flare up on the eve of the trip to Valley Parade.

The injury also ruled him out of the friendlies with Bury and Stoke City.

But should he come through unscathed over the next two days he could be named in what Bowyer hopes will be a full-strength squad for the showdown with title favourites Cardiff.

Former Bluebirds striker Rudy Gestede and Ben Marshall are overcoming sickness and played in a behind-closed-doors match against Oldham Athletic on Monday.

Jordan Spence, who is on trial at the club, also featured in the 2-2 draw and Bowyer yesterday confirmed he will continue to monitor the defender’s progress.

Bowyer is short of cover at the back.

But he admits he is unlikely to have made any further additions in time for the visit of Cardiff to Ewood Park.

“It’s up to the people above me who control the purse things,” added Bowyer, who revealed striker Luke Varney picked up a knock in Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Stoke.

“I understand that and we’ll see how we go.”

Rovers would be interested in re-signing Michael Keane if Manchester United allow the England U21s international to go back out on loan.

Keane has been a regular for Louis van Gaal’s side on their high profile pre-season tour of America and Bowyer joked: “He’s just played against Real Madrid in front of 109,000 so I don’t think he’ll be in a rush to leave Manchester United.

“There will be lots of interest in Michael Keane because he’s a talented footballer.

“But he’s a Manchester United player and Mr van Gaal is having a look at him and who knows where that will go.”

Well with signings like yours, who needs money? Jutkiewicz, Sordell, Matt Taylor, Steven Reid and Matt Gilkes would leave me very disappointed if I was you. All these promises of Premier League riches and you're still shopping in the bargain basement.

well once past the tedious, predictable, repetitive troll posts...although I feel a bit for Burnley as they can't even persuade decent championship players to join them. I mean if Steven Reid and a boro squad player are about the best you can do then I'd be jacked off, especially with the prem windfall and hike in ST prices for the best supporters and best run club in the world.

I must say that I'm looking forward to seeing Browny play in rotation with Rhodes and Gestede - particularly given that our supply lines seem a lot better this season with Conway, Marshal, King firing from wide with Cairney threading them through too!

My main worry is our defence - Killa and Spurr are automatic picks - Hanley for me is a bit rash at times and unless we play Lowe at right back we are potentially weak in that position.

Roll on Friday!

In all fairness, Baptiste looks decent enough, he just needs a bit of time to gel with the others. Fully agree about our captain though, you never know which Hanley is going to turn up from one week to the next. Baptiste is another option in the centre, although I'd like to see O'Connell given a chance if it arises, he definitely has the potential to be a key player for us.

Even if we don't sign Spence, or get Keane back in on loan, I actually think we've got enough quality and competition in all areas now to be competitive this season.

Are you referring to Rovers? which fans think we're a well run club? and what does 'players contracts in line with what is needed mean' exactly? directors available for discussion...ahhh that's nice - but Man City's, Liverpools, Man Utd Directors aren't available for a nice discussion - so that means that Burnley are better of course - so what are you going on about?

Look lads its time to stop all this childish bickering, it's getting us nowhere. I need to get this off my chest and then move on. I wont deny it, when all is said and done, I hate you lot. I can't put it any other way.

I hate the fact that you beat us.

I hate the fact that you beat us at Ewood Park.

I hate the fact that you are in the Premier League.

I hate the fact that we're in the Championship.

I hate the fact that you have the vast wealth of the Premier League behind you while our debts are spiralling out of control.

I hate the fact that I can't maintain an erection.

I hate a lot of things, but I hate Burnley FC with a passion that sometimes frightens even me. I hate you with a violent anger that causes me to vomit and black out on occasions, and I want the last four years to be erased, from history and from memory. I want us to be in the Premier League, I want us to beat you, I want us to be the big club again, I want you to be the little club with debts and no money, but most of all I want Jack Walkers millions back.

I am the account duplicator. I can't help myself.

I am the creator of FakeVilla, BubblePopFC, AnotherPounding4Burn
ley, Mr Ted Maul and the many variants of Burnley supporters who post on these pages; I do this to cause confusion and to spread negativity about the achievements of Burnley FC. Achievements that sicken me to the pit of my stomach.

I'm laying it all on the table here, I have issues. Please don't hate me for what I am.

It's 20 years this season since we achieved what the Dingles will never ever replicate, ever ever ever.

Their place in the hierarchy of football achievements will never surpass what BRFC has accomplished.

Salivate on one victory, you Dingles. Enjoy.

Eternal glory could be a tad over the top.

If we'd beaten them at Ewood in March like we all thought we would then we'd have made the play-off's, and then who knows?

As it stands they're in the Premier League about to face Chelsea and Manchester United while we get the pleasure of Cardiff and Scunthorpe. Not exactly eternal glory. And god help us when this Financial Fair Play business starts tearing chunks out of us.

I hate Burnley.

Well with signings like yours, who needs money? Jutkiewicz, Sordell, Matt Taylor, Steven Reid and Matt Gilkes would leave me very disappointed if I was you. All these promises of Premier League riches and you're still shopping in the bargain basement.
Indeed.

Silly pezzy dingles.
As paltry as it appears to be you scruffy shoeless skip ratters can only dream of spending the money that Burnley have so far.

And to commemorate that soulless rich old man conning achievement why not get your 1995 Rovers "Shearer" supernoodle stained shirt on and sit there in your brown and lemon stained Y fronts and watch the season highlights on betamax while beating your withered walnut that hard you'd think it owed you money.

Obviously I gave you too much credit, You really are not very good at this are you ? The whole idea of being a troll is to wind people up, you just keep make me laugh !

There I was telling the retard how some trolls do their homework when you come up with that dingle distortion of reality.

I do remember the 70s, when Rovers briefly dropped into the third division, they were seasons that educated people would see as exceptions for a club that has otherwise spent its entire history in the top half of the football league structure.

'Languishing in the lower echelons', really, it's nice of you to make the effort but if you are going to experiment with big boys words try to use them in the correct context.

I'm glad I can make you laugh, you probably don't have much else in your sorry existence to laugh about. Being that fat you can't sit up unaided, having a mechanical "grabber" to reach the sky remote, carers to wash your folds thrice weekly and a wife with more facial hair than an elderly gentleman's scrotum. And to top it off you support No dad Rovers.
