Blackburn Rovers ace Tom Cairney will not be rushed

BLACKBURN Rovers star Tom Cairney is undergoing daily medical treatment in a bid to be fit for Saturday’s clash at neighbours Bolton Wanderers.

However Rovers boss Gary Bowyer will not risk the talented midfielder, who came off with an ankle injury in last weekend’s 1-0 victory at Reading, if he is not 100 per cent.

But if Cairney is held back Bowyer insists it will not be because he wants to save him for the big East Lancashire derby at home to Burnley on Sunday week.

Rovers have lost four first-team players to serious ankle injuries this season and their manager is mindful of losing another at such a critical stage of the campaign.

“Tom will be having treatment every day,” said Bowyer, whose side’s win over Reading moved them within four points of the play-offs with a game in hand.

“Hopefully it will be good enough for him to be fit for the weekend because he’s been a massive player for us this season.

“But we’ve got to be sensible as unfortunately for us this season DJ Campbell has had an ankle injury, Corry Evans has had an ankle injury, Ben Marshall has had an ankle injury and Dickson Etuhu has had an ankle injury.

“So we have not been blessed from that point of view.”

Cairney underwent a scan on Monday.

Although the results showed the injury is not as serious as the ones sustained by Campbell, Evans, Marshall and Etuhu, the Scotland U21s international does face a fight to be fit for the short trip to Bolton.

If he does miss out Rovers will be desperate for Cairney to return against Burnley.

But when asked whether he would consider holding the 23-year-old back so he could definitely face the Clarets, Bowyer said: “No, not all. We work game by game and all our concentration is on Bolton.

“If Tom can’t make it – and we’re certainly hopeful he can – then whoever comes in for him, like Chris Taylor did on Saturday, I’m sure will do a fantastic job.”

Josh Morris, meanwhile, has become the second Rovers player to join Fleetwood Town on loan.

The 22-year-old has put pen to paper on a one-month deal with the high flying Cod Army, who last month snapped up another Rovers midfielder, Alex Marrow, on loan until the end of the season.

Morris will remain with Fleetwood until March 25 and went straight into their squad for their League Two encounter at home to Plymouth Argyle last night.

Nor should he be, bringing players back too soon can have a negative affect, especially as the Bolton players will know his ankle is a problem.

We have 14 more games after that one that we need him for.

We did pretty well when Cairney went off at Reading so no point putting him at risk when we have others who can step in. Evans is working towards full fitness and could be ready for weekend, then there's always Dunny and Taylor. No need to panic.

Dunn wants no part of it. Why would he? He sh!t out last time with a made up injury, and we are far better this time around. Not only that you lot are far weaker. Your team really doesn't carry any weight any more. I remember dreading the derby when we were up against the likes of Chris Samba. The team you have now is very, very poor, I would say your defence in particular is the weakest its been in the last 3 decades, and unfortunately for you we have the best strikers we've had in a similar time... you're in for a beating lads.

I can see where you're coming from as Samba was in a different leage, but then we all are now and pound for pound in the Cmapionship I've got to be honest and say their defence is solid, midfield far improved and strikeforce already good and improving. You've been praying for that for almost 6 months now Mungo, perhaps its time to accept that its not going to happen. Burnley have been in the top 3 since September 2013. We have been knocked out of second place 3 times by QPR and bounced right back above them, we are now 7 points ahead of them with a goal difference of +12.

Blackburn have without doubt a very suspect defence and possibly the weakest fullbacks in the division. If Ings and Vokes are on form then I don't see much hope for you.

Perhaps when we've embarrassed you at Ewood you might finally come out of the closet and drop this cringe-worthy charade. You love Burnley, admit it.

Us? We've flattered to deceive and I can't help feeling we've only one way to go now.

Explain "go into hiding"?

We are 2nd in the Championship? If we beat Derby again this season (we beat them 3-0 away) we will go 5 points clear of 3rd place.

We are 17 points ahead of you with a goal difference of +21.

We have been above you in the Championship for almost 2 years.

You are at your weakest in decades and should we beat you on the 9th of March, I assure you, that yourself and the rest of the moron's on these pages will be doing nothing but hiding, sobbing into your Pot Noodle and self-harming.

The 3 points from the derby that propel us further towards automatic promotion will be the final lasting insult to all Blackburn Rovers fans and a reminder of what goes around comes around.

What big game? Oh sorry, it's derby day. Apologies for my memory lapse, it's just that Rovers fans tend not to let a football match completely dominate their lives to such a sickening level.

I suppose supporting a club who's not managed ONE SINGLE victory against it's bitterest enemy since Rocky II was released may answer the question as to why you're so warped.

You lot have been beating the same drum all season. Hoping and praying Burnley’s small but superior squad get injuries. I don’t see Burnley fans wishing ill of Rovers players because it’s beneath them. But you lot…. And do you really think you can make up 17 points on Burnley? Not a chance. It doesn’t matter how big your squad is if it’s not good enough.

Us? We've flattered to deceive and I can't help feeling we've only one way to go now.
Yep down Blackbum.
Guys, we've had the better record since our derby records began 126 years ago... Burnley have NEVER had the better derby record and now sit on a 35 year drought of wins... It's painful to hear you try and make yourself seem the top dogs! You are above us in the league which wins you NOTHING but a better record for the season so far, you finished 3 points above us last year, where you was only 7 points above relegation yourself... Proper makes me laugh when I hear you retards sperming at the mouth with being so high... I actually think it's great what Burnley have done this season, but giving retards like you any sort of fodder is probably silly of me! With 15 games to go a lot can happen... So wind your necks in you fools
Chris, I think your being a bit harsh on our friends up the road, last year they won the "We finished higher than Blackburn" trophy, followed by this years "It's Xmas and we are above Blackburn trophy" to our friends these are major trophies, putting the PL trophy and the League cup we won no where, come on mate don't be so cruel.
What about the 'We won more corners than Blackburn trophy' and 'We had more shots trophy' and the 'We won the league in September trophy' ?

The dingle trophy cabinet must be bursting at the seams.
Not forgetting the ''We've awarded ourselves more trophies than any other club" trophy, which quite rightly won them the "We've got more meaningless & unimportant trophies than any other club" trophy & coming soon to a Burnley trophy cabinet near you the "We'll definitely beat them this time or the bus windows are gonna get it" trophy....
You are a daft lot. What a bunch of Clowns. To the tune of Chirpy chirpy cheep cheep "Where's the money gone, where's the money gone"......... :0)

Quite funny reading WLUV /LuB ramblings above.
His comments contain some Fruedian slips, for instance;
If Ings and Vokes are on form ...IF? I thought the Burcelona duo were invincible. Then " should we win the derby" ....should we win???
Hmmm, despite all the cockerel strutting sounds like our Chicken Plucker is not really so confident at all because deep down he knows how inferior Burnley really are to Rovers.
He cant even see that over a season 17 points is not that big of a difference when he consistently swears we are " at our weakest in decades'
But tell us all do, dear Baldric, if we are so weak how come you are less than 6 wins better off ? And you have not managed to beat us either.
Hmm...interesting indeed.
