Crystal Palace new boy Scott Dann pleased as Blackburn Rovers move goes through

Lancashire Telegraph: Scott Dann Scott Dann

DEPARTED Blackburn Rovers captain Dann is looking forward to playing in the Premier League again after signing for Crystal Palace for an undisclosed fee.

Dann, who has penned  a three-and-a-half-year deal with Palace, said: "It's been a long day and a long transfer window with a lot of speculation, so it's nice to finally put pen to paper and get it done.

"I'm looking forward to the next three-and-a-half years.

"Any professional footballer will tell you that they want to be in the Premier League.

"It's something I've done before and really enjoyed and having the opportunity to come and play here for the next couple of years, do well and help the team - it's something I really wanted to do and I'm glad that it's all gone through."

Palace won't be in the prem for another 3 and half years so you better find another club shortly when they go down.
Good luck but am sure you could have been more ambitious

I hope he's also looking forward to playing in the championship again next season whilst we get promoted through the playoffs at the expense of the six fingered brigade at turd moor and palace get relegated. I'm feeling .. Glad all over. Over- rated at best. Saying that we will need cover for kilgallon. Armband to robbo for me

Good Luck but there must be a chance we will pass you at the end of the season with you going in the other direction Scott! He has been a good player with a 100% appearence record last season and club captain....he will be missed but Kilgallen is a good replacement.

Bye Scott you will not be missed, one of the worst centre halves I have ever seen at Ewood, simply not in the same league as Berg, Short, Samba, Nelsen, Jones Ooijer etc IMO defo not a championship defender and certainly not a Prem league defender, 2 relegations to his name, probably another with Palace, Kilgallon is a far better player, GB sign Lucas Neill up for rest of season seeing as he is training with us.

He's looking forward to the next 3 and a half years. And glad to see the back of the last 2 and a half.

It's says something for the no dads that Dann would rather risk a move to a team that are more than likely to be in a relegation fight than stay with Blackburn. He clearly thinks you have no chance of going anywhere either this season or next. I doubt money would have been an incentive to leave as by all accounts he's taking a pay cut.

Not gonna miss him but a bizarre move as he'll be in the championship again next season and on less money than he is now apparently

I'm glad we've shipped out 16 players. Our squad was too bloated. Just a shame we are light on centre backs but maybe Bowyer has a loan deal lined up?

Poor lad couldn't get out of their quick enough. Can you blame him?

16 players gone including your captain Scott Dann and most creative player Reuben Rochina, a player who only a few weeks ago several no-dads claimed was essential to Blackburn Rovers play-off hopes.

Now that he's gone he's rubbish, and, predictably, there are comments from no-dads stating that Scott Dann is "one of the worst centre halves I have ever seen at Ewood" You couldn't make this nonsense up.

You've just lost your captain in January because he didn't want to stick around on £35k a week in mid-table.

But I'm sure you have a quality replacement lined up.... nope, nothing but a few more misfits and rejects brought in.

It's been a shocking transfer window for Blackburn Rovers.

Where do Laughingstock FC go from here?

I GBs interview on TalkSport tonight before the deal was done he more or less said that his actions will be determined by what happened with Scott Dann. We have plenty of time in the loan window.

It is a good deal all around. Dann has really done us a favour financially. We need to ship higher earners out and he is the one who we could actually sell without causing too much of a ripple. Or would people prefer Rhodes went? Robinson is another high earner but maybe not had long enough in the team to be able to sell him on. Out of the 2 I think Robinson seems to have more of a positive impact on the defence than Dann anyway. I think some people are a bit hard on Dann - the real problems are Best and Etuhu.... oh and the Burnley trolls.

Not last, exactly, Christian 'I can't jump without giving a free kick away' Dailly was certainly a bigger liability than Dann.

Frankly SD is one of the bigger earners we could afford to lose, and this is not hindsight or sour grapes, most of my match reviews from last season mentioned how Grant Hanleys physical presence carried Dann through games and this season I have been frequently critical of Danns poor distribution. However I am surprised at such a low fee and very unhappy that we didn't manage to make Leon a part of the deal.

If any Dingles fancy putting their money where their mouth is, then stick some money on Betfair for Burnley to go up and I'll match it! I'll even give you a market beating price of 4.0 (equivalent to 3/1 at the bookies). Seriously, let me know if you fancy it and we'll sort out how much, along with a time for when to put the bets on!
Stop crying just because you've lost your captain for a quarter of what you paid for him.

How embarrassing.
Quite the opposite, I'm pleased that Dann has gone, as are most Rovers fans.

Anyway, stop dodging the issue and take my bet! You talk a lot so let's see you back it up with hard cash!
He hasn't got any cash. He has no job as hes on here 24/7. Also he wants to back it each way incase they finish 7th as he thinks e.way means any place..

16 players Mark - 15 of them fringe players at best. Maybe it's got something to do with FFP you keep bleating on about.

Personally I can't blame Dann at wanting a 3rd bite at the Prem cherry, however as already said he is Championship at best - says it all that he goes to Palace. I thought he showed his true colours the season we went down when he tried engineering a move away and wasn't committed. A loss yes, but not a disaster.

By the way Mark - do you know where your misses was whilst you were glued to the Rovers forums last night? I do ;)

Good luck SD may be his last chance to play in Premiership - it also does Rovers balancing the budget a big hand. You cant blame him after all the turmoil at Ewood.
Obviously Best was not part of the deal so more work to be done in stripping out high earners but a successful transfer market for thinning the ranks.

The Loan market opens again next Saturday and there is alot of sense in taking players in on loan with the opportunity to buy in the summer if they fit in.

I don't always agree with some of your comments but really agree and respect many of your posts and views

we may not always agree which is what this site is all about but please don't associate me with bigoted racist views

3 points today essential as our next three fixtures I belive will be key to our playoff hopes for against teams around us.

Blustery journey across A69 and down M6 but really looking forward to a win which we could and should have secured at Barnsley on Tuesday.
