BLACKBURN Rovers striker Jordan Slew made an instant impression on his debut for Ross County.

The 21-year-old striker only completed his loan move to the Scottish Premiership outfit three hours before their Highland derby at Inverness Caledonian Thistle on New Year’s Day.

But that did not stop Slew from playing a starring role as Derek Adams’ side won 2-1 to record their first victory since October.

Staggies boss Adams said: “We only got clearance for him on Wednesday morning and I was at the stadium waiting for that to come through.

“I think Jordan was terrific, he came in and did well and gave us an out ball. Tribute to everyone at the Scottish Football Association and Scottish Professional Football League, I was working with guys like Sandy Bryson and Donnie McBean and we worked hard to get it through.”

Adams also paid tribute to the role former Rovers assistant manager Eric Black played in the deal to take Slew to Victoria Park for the rest of the season.

Adams said: “Eric Black is a good friend of myself and my father’s. He helped us with the deal and spoke highly of Jordan.

“He is a player who has gone for £1m, so he has talent and we’re able to give him games.

“He has pedigree and maybe something to prove.”
