I’M one of those people who think you should play your best team in every single game.

I know Blackburn have got a lot of matches this month and I know they have chopped and changed for their FA Cup ties this season.

But if all our top players are fit on Saturday I would play them against Stoke City, The transfer window has gone now, there’s no need to hide anybody away, so let’s get them out there and get them playing against what is a good Stoke side.

If we could beat Stoke then it would be a big boost to the morale of the fans.

Not so much the players, as we’ve seen from their performances recently that it hasn’t been badly affected, but for the fans because they have not seen enough wins lately.

And make no mistake it is winning what truly builds morale, not playing as well as Blackburn did at Watford on Saturday and losing.

But Stoke will be a very difficult game, harder in my opinion than Swansea in the last round when we were helped by that early sending off.

All Blackburn fans know Mark Hughes and know his style. They know he can come here and set his team up to play football and, if needs be, set them up to mix it.

Stoke won’t be scared of Blackburn, that’s for sure, it will be a very, very difficult game.

But if we put our best side out we can make sure it is for them too.

And here’s hoping we get a bigger crowd on Saturday than we did for the Swansea game.

I said after that the club needed to do a little bit more for supporters and it is nice that they have reacted to that low attendance by reducing the admission prices for season-ticket holders.

January is a dry month for people, with lots of bills to play, so if you want to see the stadium fuller and you want to see crowds back on the up, you have to do something.
