THE old saying goes, ‘you don’t become a bad side overnight’, and that’s true.

But you don’t become world-beaters overnight either and that’s why I think Blackburn can go to the Macron Stadium on Boxing Day and win there.

Don’t get me wrong. Neil Lennon is doing a very good job in charge of Bolton.

MORE TOP STORIES:

He has gone in with the winning mentality that he had at Celtic and brought it on board at Bolton and he’s manipulated it into the players.

But the players are still building themselves up for Neil and, just because they are doing well, it doesn’t mean Blackburn can’t make the short trip home with three very big points in the bag.

It all depends on how the teams set-up, it depends on how the players fancy it and it depends on whose tactics work better on the day.

If Bolton come at Blackburn it might suit Blackburn better than if they have to make the play and create things.

But I’d like to see Blackburn come out of the traps fast and have a go at Bolton because, as I say, they have not all of a sudden become world-beaters.

Blackburn appeared to do just that in the victory over Charlton.

It was disappointing that back-to-back defeats followed our nine-game unbeaten run but Saturday was the perfect way of bouncing back.

That early goal, which we’ve all been calling for, settled Blackburn’s nerves and they went on to get a 2-0 win.

Jordan Rhodes got a couple of goals and we got a clean sheet, too, so we could not have asked for much more.

Now we’ve got a couple of big games coming up, Bolton on Boxing Day and then Middlesbrough on Sunday.

And, as I keep saying, as long we’re still in touch with the top two, I think we will be in with a great opportunity.

Hopefully by the time of next week’s column we’ll be six points better off.

Whatever happens, thanks for reading and Merry Christmas to all Blackburn supporters.
