Rossendale United Juniors insist it is business as usual despite the on-going problems with the town’s senior side.

The club have moved to quell fears from parents and sponsors that it too is in financial trouble.

Executive committee member Chris Shuffy said that while there are obv-ious ties between the two clubs, they are not linked financially or otherwise.

“We have a very good relationship and strong links with Rossendale United but we are two separate clubs,” said Shuffy who is also the club’s gro-undsman.

“Some parents and sponsors have voiced their concerns but everything is fine at Rossendale United Juniors."

Rossendale United Juniors, who have more than 250 children on its books, use the Dark Lane facilities to hold monthly meetings and end of the season awards night.

The function rooms were closed recently with Shuffy admitting he would have to look elsewhere to hold the meetings.

“As a registered charity, we have to hold these meetings.

"I know other clubs have had to look elsewhere because the clubhouse was closed recently.

"Hopefully it won’t come to that.”

Rossendale United have had the water supply cut off at Dark Lane due to unpaid bills while it could not fulfil three recent league fixtures – although the Stags returned to action at the weekend.

Rossendale United owner Andrew Connolly wants to sell the Stags but insists the team will continue in the Vodkat League set-up.
