Padiham 1 Alsager Town 1

PADIHAM felt that they deserved more than just a point having had three good claims for a penalty and producing a grand slam finish that had Alsager on the ropes.

The first half finished goalless despite Barry Shuttleworth rattling the Alsager crossbar with a free kick in the 35th minute before Matt Pearson hit the Storks post a minute later with a long range effort.

The visitors took the lead in the 68th minute when Scott Burge’s long range free kick was touched in by James Murray as he challenge Padiham keeper Sean Davis.

Padiham equalised in the 81st minute when Jordan Hulme cleverly curled a shot over Tom Harrison in the Alsager goal.

But despite dominated the closing stages, Padiham could not force home a winner.

A draw was always on the cards given that Padiham and Alsager have now drawn five each – the highest in the NWCL Premier League.

The point sees the Storks draw level with Bacup Borough on 14 points.
