DANNY Boyle's late winner earned Colne the North West Counties League Premier Division title as the Reds won 1-0 at 1874 Northwich.

Boyle struck seven minutes from time to ensure Colne finished two points clear of rivals Runcorn Linnets who won 4-0 at Padiham.

The victory for Colne, roared on by more than 150 supporters in Cheshire, also meant Steve Cunningham's side ended the season on 100 points and they can look forward to Evo-Stik League football next season.

At the other end of the table Darwen got the three points which guaranteed their survival 12 months after winning the first division play-offs.

In front of a crowd of 230 the Salmoners fell behind early on to Cammell Laird but were level on 15 minutes thanks to Anthony Lynch. Mark McKay and Lynch again made it 3-1 at the break before Luke McKenna sealed the win in the second half.

Elsewhere, Barnoldswick Town ended the season with a 5-1 win over Atherton Collieries.

In the first division Bacup Borough drew 2-2 at home to Daisy Hill to climb to fifth in the table.

Brent Peters' side will now host Stockport Town in the play-offs on Monday. The final takes place on Saturday, May 14.
