Padiham 0 Salford City 1
PADIHAM paid the price for not being able to convert their chances.
The Storks started on the front foot and created a number of opportunities which they failed to capitalise on. And they were made to suffer when Salford hit them with a sucker punch when Stuart Cook scored in the 15th minute after Chris Turner was dispossessed in his own area.
In reply, Kieron Pickup went close with an effort that was blocked then fired over the cross bar.
After the break, Padiham keeper Sean Davis saved superbly to keep out a close range effort.
But after that Salford were on the back foot and the Storks searched for an equaliser.
Spencer Jordan had one effort deflected over the bar, Martin Parker headed over a Turner cross while Rob Whyte sweetly struck volley was well saved by Daniel Fradd in the Salford goal.
Ashley Carter also went close late on.
