CHORLEY aim to shoot down big spending Evo-Stik League Premier Division leaders Chester tomorrow – and take a major step towards promotion themselves – in front of a packed Victory Park as all eyes turn towards glory.

The Magpies, who have defied the financial odds to stay on the play-off course, go into the all-ticket collision just four points adrift of the leaders and Garry Flitcroft’s men will throw the title race wide open if they avenge the 3-0 defeat they suffered at the Deva Stadium earlier in the season.

It’s a game that Chorley chairman Ken Wright is relishing and said: “If we were to win it would certainly make things interesting at the top of the table.”

The game is all ticket after trouble marred last season’s clash between the sides and Magpies supporters have until 9pm today to get their tickets with no entrance on the day to anyone without a ticket.

And Wright is hoping the day passes off without incident.

He said: “We want this game to be remembered for all the right reasons.

“The trouble that marred last season’s fixture was caused by a small minority and wasn’t reflective of Chorley and Chester fans, the overwhelming majority of whom are decent, law abiding people who just want to cheer on their team.

“I think we can all learn lessons from what happened last season, and we’ve been working closely with the police and officials from Chester FC to avoid any repeat.”

Meanwhile, the Magpies now know the identity of their oppenents in the final of the Lancashire FA Challenge Trophy next month. They will play Kendal Town at the Reebok Stadium on Monday, March 12, after the Cumbrians beat Radcliffe Borough on Wednesday.
