  • "So is Northerlass05 a proper name then? Peters knows only too well about rule 8.6 is all about and the League needs to come down hard on the club. They cannot be allowed to bring the league into disrepute.I know Brent Peters only too well, having had more than one "discussion" with him. He is very self opinionated which is not being passionate. So before you start calling people idiot, have a look at the rules of the league"

Bacup Borough set to face fixture charge

BACUP Borough could be charged with failing to fulfil a fixture after their North West Counties League Premier Division game with Colne did not go ahead on Wednesday.

Borough were hit with a hectic schedule of games with seven set to take place in seven days after the winter weather hit them harder than most.

There was confusion surrounding the cancellation of Wednesday's game but the North West Counties League released a statement this morning, claiming Borough refused to play in the match.

The statement read: "As a result of Bacup Borough’s refusal to play their league game against Colne on Wednesday, May 2, 2012, the matter has been referred to the League Management Committee for consideration. The Club is expected to be charged with failing to fulfil a fixture as per League Rule 8.6.

"No further comment will be made by The North West Counties Football League Management Committee at this time."

Bacup boss Brent Peters said ahead of the game that his club informed all parties that the match would not be going ahead, citing the health of the players as one of the main reasons.
